Sheelagh Allen gave us a short talk on how to pronounce the Irish language when you come across it in singing. Sheelagh has been a member of Folk At The Club since October 2019, born in Ireland she spent some time in Spain before returning to England.<\/p>\n
Beginning with the Irish alphabet, we were taken through the various pronunciations and accents with a sprinkling of songs and funny stories to illustrate them. We were all given one of Sheelagh\u2019s CDs and the workshop ended with a question and answer session followed by a sing around which was mostly Irish songs and closing with Sheelagh singing the Irish national anthem in Gaelic.
